Postpartum hair loss – what to do?

Postpartum hair loss can be surprising and frustrating, but it's a completely normal, temporary occurrence that many new moms experience. During pregnancy, high estrogen levels prevent hair from falling out at its normal rate, often resulting in fuller, stronger hair. But after giving birth, estrogen levels drop significantly—and this sudden hormonal change can lead to increased hair loss starting around the fourth month postpartum.

Why does hair loss occur?

During pregnancy, your hair benefits from the hormone miracle estrogen. It ensures that the hair stays in the growth phase longer and falls out less. After birth, however, the hormone balance returns to normal and many of the hairs that were "held back" during pregnancy suddenly fall out.

This process often reaches its peak around the fourth month after birth, before the hair structure stabilizes on its own. The hair usually grows back - but sometimes with a slightly different texture or color.

When should you take a closer look?

Although postpartum hair loss is mostly natural and temporary, there are situations that should be monitored more closely. Excessive or persistent hair loss could indicate underlying health problems, such as:

- Thyroid dysfunction
- Adrenal fatigue
- Nutrient deficiencies

In such cases, it is advisable to consult a doctor to clarify possible causes and treat them specifically.

How to support your hair health

Although hair loss after childbirth is a natural process, there are ways to support your body and promote hair growth:

    1. Silicon

    - Silicon strengthens the hair roots and can significantly promote growth. It is found in horsetail and nettle leaves, for example.

    2. Wheatgrass

    - Wheatgrass supports your liver in processing hormones and thus helps to restore balance in the body – an important step for healthy hair growth.

    3. Biotin

    - Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is essential for hair health. It promotes cell structure and growth.

    4. Collagen

    - Collagen powder provides the necessary building blocks for the hair structure and ensures strong, healthy hair. It also supports skin and nails.

    5. Omega-3 fatty acids

    - Found in fish oil or cod liver oil, omega-3 fatty acids strengthen hair and help reduce inflammation that may affect hair growth.

    6. Nutrient-rich diet

    - A diet rich in proteins and healthy fats is essential for maintaining healthy hair.

Nutrition as the key to hair health

A wonderful example of the connection between nutrition and hair health is our Postpartum Hair Growth Juice .

    It contains:

    - Nettle leaves and wheatgrass: For silicon and healthy hormone regulation.

    - Collagen powder: Supports hair structure and regeneration.
